Name chosen for passenger train that is to link Front Range communities from Pueblo to Fort Collins
Something like “Front Range Flyer” did not make the cut.
Instead, the passenger train planned to connect Pueblo and Fort Collins and many points between is to be called the “Colorado Connector.”
The short-hand name will be CoCo.
The name won the most votes among the more than 25,000 cast. Second in popularity, but losing by a few hundred, was Front Range Express Destinations, followed by Colorado Ranger and RangeLink.
The results were announced Monday morning at Union Station.
“The Colorado Connector reflects exactly what this train is about: bringing communities together and creating a faster, cleaner and more convenient way to travel across our state,” said Gov. Jared Polis.
The Front Range Passenger Rail District was created as a result of legislation adopted in 2021 and 2024. See more here.
As for the image above, it looks a lot like the terrain of the Moffat Road, the Union Pacific route that climbs from Denver into the foothills west of Arvada before entering the Moffat Tunnel and emerging at the base of the Winter Park ski area. Elevated passenger train service is also planned between Denver and Grand and Routt counties on the Western Slope. But that train will have a different name.
