Mike Kruger says he has accomplished what he set out to do at the Colorado Solar and Storage Association and now it’s time to move on. He’ll leave at CEO at the end of March
Mike Kruger will be leaving his position as chief executive of the Colorado Solar & Storage Association effective March 31.
In a COSSA newsletter sent to the 300 or so members or the trade organization, Kruger reported that he had informed the board of directors that his time as CEO has run its course.
“It has been the professional highlight of my career to be the captain of this ship,” he said. “However, after six years I know in my bones it is time to step aside and make way for a new leader who can take COSSA and the COSSA Institute to the next level of influence and impact.”
He had, he said, “done everything I came to Colorado to do. COSSA is now the strongest voice in the state for clean energy. We are recognized as the experts in land use codes, utility rules, and state regulations in every corner of the state.”
Directors, he reported, has started work on a succession plan.
A letter from the board members credited Kruger with advancing the visibility of the organization. “COSSA is well known across Colorado, from the Front Range to Sterling, Lamar, Durango and Hayden,” the directors said.
In an e-mail conversation with Big Pivots, Kruger, cited the specific accomplishments of COSSA in the last several years.
“I feel like my job is done,” he said. “It is now time for the next person to step into this role to take COSSA to the next level to address markets, VPPs, increased load, transmission and distribution build out, etc. I know that COSSA will be stronger in a year from now with a new captain of the ship.”
He also said he is uncertain of his future except that it necessarily must involve energy and Denver. “Those are non-negotiable.”
